Week 2 5/21

The second week was Much more routine. I was able to get myself into more of a routine as I started to learn the schedule and understand what blocks came after which and was finally able to figure out the actual rotation of the schedule. I was also starting to feel progress in my throwing skills. There is definitely a change coming from a different style of wheel Which I definitely noticed. Also having not thrown for a couple of weeks left me after my first pot with a feeling of being in a way kind of rusty.  but by this point I've definitely felt that I am back into the groove and I'm back being able to throw at a higher ability than I have been able to before.        What I found to be one of the most rewarding parts of my senior project, is the time that I spent with students. Being able to watch the students going through a day that I used to experience when I was their age, was at first a weird feeling but I grew to appreciate and love it in a sense. Most rewarding pa

I was trying to teach them to take their time you were that I’m not all will be able to get into the kilm. Week 1

The first week of senior project was a success, and I couldn't have asked for a better start. The opportunity to work with the kids was both fun and rewarding. Throughout the week, I had the chance to get to know them better and build meaningful connections with them. One of the highlights of the week was learning how to run the pug mill. Overall, this week was full of learning opportunities and laughter. It was a great way to start the senior project, and I am looking forward to the weeks ahead.     The pug mill is a tool used to mix together used clay into new recycled usable clay. On Wednesday Ms. Pope showed me the basics of running the pug mill and mixing a new batch of clay. On Thursday and Friday I was able to practice what I was taught by mixing three batches of clay.     T hroughout the first week I've been able to become closer with the students. I've noticed that the youngest class and the oldest class both warmed up to me being around the fastest and the ot

First Day 5/8

Image
Started my first day off today at 9 o’clock. I was shown around the space and was told where everything that I needed was. I shadowed Mrs. Pope in three classes today, I was able to meet almost all of the kids she taught besides one class. It was very cool being back on a campus I once was in school at. It was a very different, feeling being there as a faculty, and not as a student. The most interesting part of it all was being able to see it all from the perspective of a faculty. I finished the day at 1:30.  9:00 to 1:30. Hours worked 4 hours 30 minutes.  4 hours 30 minutes
